Escape the hustle and bustle of Marrakech on this 2-day trek through southern Morocco. Cross the Atlas Mountains, visit a UNESCO-listed Kasbah, and ride a camel through the desert. Spend the night in the middle of the desert at a campsite in the dunes.<\/p>\n
Spend two days exploring mountainous and desert landscapes, as well as traditional Moroccan towns and villages with an experienced guide.<\/p>\n
Day 1 :<\/p>\n
Depart Marrakech at 9:00 am in a modern, air-conditioned minibus and head for the Atlas Mountains. Drive through the range, enjoying magnificent views of the surrounding countryside and snow-capped mountains. You will soon arrive at Kasbah A\u00eft Benhaddou, an ancient fortified village that exemplifies traditional Moroccan terracotta architecture.<\/p>\n
Then continue to Ouarzazate for lunch at a local cafe or restaurant. Continue along the Draa Valley to reach the town of Zagora. Here you will meet your camels, who will take you on a 1.5 hour trek through the dunes. From the top of these tall, sometimes graceful animals, you will have breathtaking views of the desert en route to your camp in the dunes.<\/p>\n
Day 2:<\/p>\n
After a traditional Berber breakfast, depart just before sunrise for another 1.5-hour camel ride to get the best views of the changing colors of the sky. Return to Zagora by camel and say goodbye to your travel companion.<\/p>\n
From Zagora, return to the Atlas Mountains by minivan, with plenty of stops for photos and lunch. You will arrive in Marrakech between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and be taken to your hotel.<\/p>\n
